MI5 carries out investigations by obtaining, analysing and assessing intelligence to keep the UK safe from serious threats like terrorism and attacks from hostile nations, and its protective security arm works with the UK Government, businesses and other organisations to advise them about how to keep themselves safe.
The successful candidates, who must have British citizenship and be IT literate, will provide professional diagnostic and repair services across a range of vehicles, such as those used by agent handlers and ensuring they're maintained to the highest standards to meet MI5's organisation's requirements.
The starting salary is £35,952 to £40,629 plus other benefits such as an onsite gym and a personal learning budget.
The security service's advert states: "As part of our close-knit, friendly team, you'll be partnered with an experienced vehicle technician who'll guide you from day one. As you gain experience and grow in confidence, you'll be encouraged to work autonomously with the reassurance that your colleagues are on-hand to help if needed."
Ongoing training will be provided, including the funding of additional qualifications in areas including MOT testing and diagnostics, and the service will supply all of the tools and equipment required.
MI5 states that some UK travel might be required.
"A role in MI5 means you'll do unique and challenging work in a supportive and encouraging environment, making a real difference to UK national security," states the recruitment advert.
