Lexus is no stranger to awards, with a string of reliability and dealer satisfaction titles to its name, there’s little surprise that it picked up the Manufacturer of the Year trophy, after delivering a record-breaking 2023.
The AM Awards judging panel, comprising of motor retail figureheads, experienced consultants and AM’s journalists, decided that Lexus UK was the deserving winner of the AM Award for Manufacturer of the Year.
AM editor Tim Rose said: “It’s a deserving win for Lexus UK. The Lexus new car range is the best it has ever been, with superb sharp styling, the latest technology and precise craftmanship. Its used cars are in great demand thanks to their reliability and strong residual values.
"Its UK retailers are a happy bunch, consistently keeping it on the podium in bi-annual dealer satisfaction surveys.
"And happy dealers means they’ll go the extra mile to have happy customers, and this is certainly evidenced up by customer loyalty and love for the brand.”
The Japanese luxury car brand’s new car sales volume surged by almost 50% on the previous year’s total. The strong performance confirms it as one of the fastest-growing brands in a premium car market that overall grew by a more modest 13.6%.
It is also among the top-scoring brands in the National Franchised Dealers Association’s (NFDA) Dealer Attitude Survey Winter 2023/2024.
2023 saw Lexus deliver 15,963 new vehicle sales, compared to 10,675 in 2022, establishing a new record for the company’s sales volume and premium market share.
Electrified vehicles – hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid electric and battery-electric – accounted for 99.5% of the total in a product line-up that welcomed significant new and revised models.
The detailed citations for ALL the 2024 AM Awards winners, and all the photos from the amazing event, will be published in a special digital report on AM-online on May 14.
A key model to launch last year was the RX. This keenly priced SUV offers both hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines, giving it broad appeal among private buyers and fleet customers.
There was also the introduction of the Lexus RZ, which is the brand’s first model to be offered solely as an electric car.
Further expansion of the Lexus line-up comes in the form of the LM “luxury mover” people-carrier. This unique vehicle offers an interior like no other in the segment.
Looking forward, 2024 will see the arrival of the all-new LBX compact crossover, which promises to be game-changing vehicle for the brand. It enters another new segment, this time one that’s in high demand with UK buyers.
The LBX has already been named car of the year by What Car?, ahead of its official arrival in UK dealerships.
A new generation of electric models will join the Lexus line-up from 2026, with projected ranges of more than 500 miles. These will support the brand’s ambition to become an all-electric car maker by 2035.
