Skoda has entered the four-wheel drive market with the Octavia Estate 4x4, which goes on sale on February 1, priced £16, 200.

At the heart of the four-wheel drive system is the Haldex coupling system, which monitors electronic, hydraulic and mechanical information and provides immediate reaction to road grip. It operates in conjunction with safety features like ABS, EDS, ASR and ESP working together to provide better traction.

The car looks much like the standard Octavia, but for 23mm added ride height. It has a larger fuel tank and model specific badging on the gear stick and tailgate.

The powertrain is a 1.8T 150bhp 5-valve with a maximum speed of 131mph.

The car is available with the Variable Servicing package which can extend service intervals for up to two years, depending on driving style and comes with the Skoda 3-year/unlimited mileage warranty, 10-year anti-corrosion warranty and 3-year paint warranty.

The 4x4 Octavia is available only in top-of-the-range Elegance trim.
