Vertu Motors has announced the appointment of Andrew Goss to its board as an independent non-executive director, with immediate effect.

Goss brings 39 years of experience in the automotive sector, having held senior roles in Citroen UK, Nissan Europe, Lexus (GB), Toyota (GB), Porsche and most recently Jaguar Land Rover.

He said: "I have observed Vertu's development with interest over the last 10 years and I am excited by the opportunity of helping to guide its next period of growth.

“The next few years will see significant transformation of the automotive sector around new technologies and changing customer behaviours.

"I believe a proactive Group like Vertu can be very well positioned to take advantage of these changes."

Between 2010 and 2013 he headed Jaguar Land Rover's business in North America as its president and chief executive, and between 2013 and 2018 he sat on the Jaguar Land Rover Board as global sales operations director.

Vertu’s chairman, Peter Jones, said: "Andy has an unmatched wealth of sector experience. He will bring invaluable insights as the Board develops and executes its strategy in the coming years."

During this period he also represented Jaguar Land Rover in its joint venture interests in China and in its Spark 44 advertising agency.

Andrew will sit as a member of the audit, nominations and remuneration committees.
