Mercedes-Benz's new A-Class four-door saloon is now on sale, priced from £27,875.
The compact saloon is expected to carry on the success of the CLA, which attracted a lot of new customers to the brand, and is available in two trim lines: Sport and AMG Line. A seven-speed automatic gearbox comes as standard.
The Sport model features twin seven-inch displays including a central touchscreen with MBUX multimedia system with ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice activation; comfort suspension; DAB radio; 17-inch alloy wheels; Artico and Fléron fabric upholstery; automatic two-zone climate control; Active Lane Keeping Assist; Speed Limit Assist; and Keyless-Go starting function.
AMG Line customers will benefit from 18-inch AMG alloy wheels; AMG bodystyling; Artico and Dinamica microfibre upholstery; and a three-spoke sports steering wheel.
The engine line-up includes a 1.3-litre petrol unit (A 200) with 163PS and emissions from 121g/km and a 1.5-litre diesel (A 180 d) with 116PS and CO2 from 110g/km.
Mercedes says the A-Class saloon has class-leading rear headroom and a competitive 420-litre boot.
Its main rival will be the Audi A3 saloon.
Entry-level models are be well equipped. Standard features include the new MBUX – Mercedes-Benz User Experience infotainment system with touchscreen, and driving assistance systems of such as Active Brake Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist.
