Available Car delivered an all-time record week of sales after its reopened its four used car supermarket sites last week.

The Castle Donington-based independent group said sales were 30% higher than its previous weekly record in the first week of physical car sales since the easing of COVID-19 'Lockdown 3'.

Available Car sold 302% more cars than the previous week at its stores in Cannock, Castle Donington, Leeds, West Yorkshire and Sutton in Ashfield and welcomed a record number of customers through its doors.

Michael Bell, CEO of Available Car, said: “We have seen a record week at Available Car, enjoying our best ever trading week in 20 years across all four stores, what a huge achievement.”

Bell said customers continued to purchase with the company throughout lockdown using its Click and Collect service.

Bell said: “It is fantastic to see the demand for an omnichannel approach coming out of lockdown and we look forward to helping customers enjoy our unique friendly and helpful, but completely hassle-free experience at Available Car as we move towards normality.”

Last year, Available Car wrote to employees warning of “potential redundancies” as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis.

The car supermarket also signed a five-year disposal agreement with independent vehicle auction G3 Vehicle Auctions, that will see up to 50,000 Available Car vehicles disposed of through G3’s online and physical auctions over the duration of the agreement.
