Smart is launching a small series of production for its Fortwo electric model with cars ready in early 2010.
The German manufacturer trialed the model with the Metropolitan Police, universities, local councils, architects and energy companies.
Mercedes-Benz UK hasn't said how many models dealers will be able to get their hands on, but expect production to be limited.
Dermot Kelly, managing director Mercedes-Benz UK, said: “The Smart electric drive is exempt from vehicle excise duty and the London congestion charge and this, underlined with low operating costs, means that companies taking part in the trial are finding it makes perfect fiscal sense.”
