Lookers has completed the acquisition of two new car dealerships - Chester Saab from privately owned Bowers of Bolton Limited, and the Volkswagen franchise for Northallerton, north Yorkshire from Massingberd Group.

Ken Surgenor, chief executive, says: "Once again, we have been able to build on our relationship with chosen manufacturer partners in line with our expansion plans for the business."

The acquisition of Chester Saab, for a cash consideration of approximately £870,000, gives Lookers a second Saab outlet in the north-west and will complement existing operations in Liverpool. The group already operates Vauxhall and Renault franchises in Chester.

The acquisition of Volkswagen Northallerton, for approximately £630,000, will complement existing Lookers Volkswagen operations at Middlesbrough, and the group recently invested £2.5m in a new Volkswagen brand centre to service its Blackburn and Burnley market area.

Lookers says it plans to further develop its relationship with Volkswagen in the near future.
