A conference will be staged by Automotive Management and Sewells Information & Research on July 26 to brief dealers on important new rules for general insurance and data protection.
The conference, 'Be ready for dealer regulation', will be held in association with the Finance and Leasing Assocation at the Birmingham International Convention Centre.
Martin Hall, FLA director general, said: "We believe many dealers are unclear about new regulations which will affect all their businesses.
"The rules come into effect on September 1 and it is in the interest of dealers to spend a day listening to experts explaining the implication of the changes."
The General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) has been set up as a watchdog to enforce the regulations.
A spokeswoman said: "Dealers selling or advising customers on warranties, loan payment protection and car insurance need to know about these rules. Otherwise, they might be unable to continue with this part of their business and so lose a valuable source of income."
