Carwow is enhancing its stock transport service to protect dealers against financial loss.

The new ‘Carwow Collects’ service will allow dealers to make a request up to £25,000 where an eligible vehicle needs mechanical or electrical repairs that weren't disclosed or picked up in the inspection, or for financial loss suffered if the vehicle has been clocked, cloned, stolen, imported or re-mapped.

Following the acceptance of a dealer’s offer for the vehicle at auction, a trained transport and appraisal agent will visit the seller and carry out thorough visual checks, share photos with the dealer in real-time and, where the seller consents, perform a test drive.

The agent will call the dealer while on site to discuss any issues and renegotiate the price with the seller if necessary, before the transaction is completed and the vehicle is delivered to the dealer’s chosen destination.

Combined with Carwow’s vehicle document collection service, Carwow Collects enables dealers to access a wider choice of vehicles, while removing much of the hassle and time-consuming administration.

Carwow will liaise directly with the seller, coordinating the handover of relevant documentation and arranging a convenient collection time. The purchasing dealer is kept informed at every stage of the process right up to the moment the vehicle arrives at their chosen delivery location and is handed over.

Dealerships can now register multiple locations in Carwow’s delivery address book, making it quicker and simpler than ever before to send stock to specific sites or even directly to prep centres.

Those dealers preferring not to use the new Carwow Collects service but still looking for safeguards on purchases, can make use of Carwow’s recently announced BuySafe initiative, which protects them against the financial impact of certain major mechanical or electrical issues discovered post-purchase.

Sally Foote, Carwow’s chief commercial officer - Sell My Car, said: “Whether sourcing stock online or in person, it is unfortunate that some issues will never be discovered through a visual inspection. We already offer numerous safeguards for dealers, including pre-qualification of every vehicle that enters our auction, but this extended service now adds a game-changing layer of reassurance for dealers and helps to maintain profitability on vehicles, should there be certain undisclosed or unknown issues.

“The recently launched BuySafe initiative will remain in place to safeguard dealers that make their own transport arrangements. However, our dealer partners have been asking for an enhanced level of protection, so we evolved our offering to include greater peace of mind as a core component of our transport solution which can be accessed via a simple requests process.”
