The SMMT is already hailing this year's Motor Show as a 'major business success' in advance of releasing attendance figures. Organisers say that the show has been an effective sales marketplace. Show successes include: Vauxhall signing a deal with BSM worth £200m; Porsche signing up 700 Cayenne customers; and MG Rover Group taking £1 million in order for its new XPower SV supercar.
In addition, GM Daewoo says its sales orders were up 10 per cent on 2000; and Ford reports record enquiries for Focus RS, Street Ka and three-door Fiesta.
