BCA Fleet Solutions will manage the appraisal and refurbishment of up to 55,000 BMW UK used cars each year at a newly-opened facility in Corby.
Created as a result of the five-year services solutions contract that BMW UK and BCA announced in August, development of the new facility was completed in eight weeks, according to BCA.
Based at Geddington Road, Corby, it provides onsite SMART repair, paint facilities and alloy wheel refurbishment as well as hosting a transportation hub and a customer service department that serves all BCA Fleet Solutions customers, the remarketing specialist added in a statement.
Stewart Hodges, remarketing operations manager BMW UK said: “The BCA operation in Corby demonstrates how innovation can be driven through a true partnership. We have revised our approach towards our defleet programme to drive efficiency and speed through the process.”
The new BCA facility has benefited from the deployment of RFID (radio frequency identification) technology which allows each vehicle to be tracked while on site in real-time.
It was also designed to meet rigorous environmental standards, and the valeting centre recycles 100% of its water usage.
BCA’s statement said: “An on-site team of BMW UK inspectors and BCA experts work together to streamline the appraisal and refurbishment process.
“The approach has seen the average time for refurbishment reduce to seven days. All vehicles are inspected before they are remarketed and sold under the BCA Assured scheme.”
Efficiency is also supported by the installation of a turntable imaging system from AutosOnShow, part of BCA, with vehicles both photographed and filmed on-site to support BMW’s remarketing and retail needs from the centre.
