Cox Automotive has recruited Tom Marley to lead its car buying businesses.
Marley is an early pioneer of the online car buying sector and previously led Aston Barclay as CEO, before which he founded, built and led The Car Buying Group.
As director of car buying, he will assume responsibility for all of Cox Automotive’s car buying brands and operations, including Money4YourMotors and We Want Any Car and report to Liam Quegan, managing director of wholesale.
Marley said: “Cox Automotive has a strong car buying proposition, with well-established consumer facing brands and white label capabilities that are used by retailers and media groups to support their own car buying activities. There is however huge potential for growth, technology innovation and, in turn, improved revenues and profitability. I know the senior team at Cox Automotive well and have always held them, and the business, in high regard. This is an exciting opportunity in an area I love and I’m looking forward to making an impact.”
Quegan added: “Tom is yet another terrific addition to our senior leadership team. His car buying experience is second to none, having built The Car Buying Group from scratch into an award-winning business that buys over 15,000 vehicles a year. Car buying is a fast-moving and exciting space, with established players and new entrants vying for a share of the pie. Despite the fierce competition out there, we believe we have a compelling proposition that has the potential to grow, drive a greater revenue contribution and channel more vehicles to our wholesale buyers. Under Tom’s stewardship, I’m certain that will happen.”
