Finance director John Holgate has said farewell to Crewe based Swansway Motor Group, to start his retirement in Spain. 

Holgate (pictured) has been finance director at the family owned and run business since the company was founded 14 years ago.

Swansway Motor Group’s chairman Michael Smyth said: “John has helped us steer the business to where it is today, in the top five privately owned motor groups in the UK and thus we have much to thank him for.

“Swansway owes a big thank you to John, for everything he’s done over the last 14 years. He’s certainly earned a rest, along with his wife Shirley, and we wish them both a long, happy and sunny retirement in Spain."

Holgate celebrated his 60th birthday earlier this year and to celebrate Swansway bought him a bike. He has now completed his first triathlon, riding the bike.

Holgate (pictured taking part in the triathlon) said: “Shirley and I will miss Sandbach and of course I’ll miss my colleagues at Swansway, but this is such an exciting new chapter in our lives, over in Spain, and we can’t wait.”
