Inchcape has appointed Rachel Empey as a non-executive director within the business’s audit and nominations committees.

Empey is currently chief financial officer of Telefónica Deutschland, the largest company listed on the TecDAX, and best known for their O2 brand and announcement made via the London Stock Exchange.

She is also responsible for strategy and innovation as part of the role she has occupied since 2011 and has a wide range of European telecommunications experience.

Empey, a qualified chartered accountant, joined the global Telefónica Group in 2007 and has held various senior management and finance roles in Europe having begun her career with Ernst & Young.

Her career has included positions with the Weir Group plc and Lucent Technologies.

Inchcape’s non-executive chairman, Ken Hanna, said: "We are delighted that Rachel has agreed to join the group as a non-executive director. 

“Her digital and financial experience will be of great benefit to us in delivering our new Group strategy and I welcome Rachel to the Board.”
