Hyundai’s new Kona Electric will be priced from £29,495 (£24,995 including £4,500 of plug-in grant money) when it goes on sale in the UK from August 2.
The Kona Electric will initially only be able to be ordered exclusively through Hyundai’s Click to Buy website with rollout across the dealer network in 2019.
Test drives will be facilitated through a dealer roadshow “in due course”.
The new model is the latest from Hyundai’s EV range, joining both the Ioniq family and the forthcoming Nexo as the brand drives towards 18 new electrified models by 2025.
SE and Premium models are available with a 39kWh battery, with a range of up to 194 miles.
It produced 136PS and can accelerate to 60mph from rest in 9.7 seconds.
Premium and Premium SE models are available with a larger 64kWh battery, giving a 300 mile range. It offers a more potent 204PS, with a 0-60 time of 7.6 seconds.
The Kona Electric SE comes with a seven-inch infotainment screen with DAB, Apple Car Play and Android Auto, rear parking sensors with rear view camera, Bluetooth, climate control and keyless entry.
Premium adds privacy glass, LED rear lamps, front parking sensors, auto dimming rear mirror and automatic windscreen wipers, eight-inch touchscreen display audio system with satnav and KRELL speaker system.
The range topping Kona Electric Premium SE offers LED headlamps with High Beam Assist (HBA), static cornering lights and head up display. It also has leather seat facings, electrically adjustable and heated/ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel.
