The new Honda Civic Type R is set to hit UK showrooms this July, and is expected to be the most extreme yet.
The model will be the first Honda to feature the new 2.0-litre Vtec Turbo engine.
Honda’s new engine will give the Type R a power output of 305bhp at 6,500 rpm, with a 0-60mph of 5.7 seconds, and a combined CO2 figure of 170g/km.
The hot hatch will also get a suspension system unique to the Civic Type R, as well as the new +R mode, designed to increase the chassis and engine response. +R will change the engine’s torque-mapping for a “more aggressive and performance-focused setting”.
Engaging +R mode will also increase damping force from the new four-point adaptive damper system by 30%, claims Honda, to make the behaviour of the car firmer and more agile.
Customers who choose the optional GT Pack will add aesthetic and safety enhancements, as well as boosting in-car connectivity. The changes include rear parking sensors, integrated Garmin sat-nav, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and duel zone climate control.
As standard, the new Type R will come with a high standard of specification, with features such as Honda Connect, automatic climate control and the same five-star Euro NCAP rating as achieved by the standard Civic five door.
The new Type R also offers buyers options to personalise their car with the red exterior pack and interior pack as well as corresponding carbon packs.
