Jaguar is giving would-be EV owners a chance to sample the everyday savings offered after ditching petrol or diesel with its new journey-tracking Go I-PACE smartphone app.

Allowing car dealers another tool to demonstrate the benefits of owning an AFV that extends beyond the usual test drive, the new app will track journeys to allow potential I-PACE customers to see how much they could save if they ran the brand’s new zero emissions SUV.

The new app calculates the range expected from a full charge based on your vehicle use, the number of charges required in a typical week and how frequently you would need to top up mid-journey

EV expert and Fully Charged Show founder Robert Llewelyn drove 364 miles during his trail of the tool, costing £66 in petrol.

Jaguar said that the same series of journeys would have cost just £24, translating to a potential annual saving of over £1,100 based on 10,000 miles.

Llewelyn said: “It can be hard for drivers to understand how an EV would fit into their day-to-day lives. The Go I-PACE app makes this possible by providing personalised information about how the Jaguar I-PACE could work for them based on real-world data.

“I’ve no doubt the app will surprise many users with the scale of the potential cost savings and by revealing how little change to their driving habits I-PACE ownership would actually make.”

Jaguar said that journeys over 50 miles represent only two per cent of all UK trips.

Its I-PACE SUV claims to be capable of a maximum range of 298 miles (WLTP) and achieving an 80% charge in 85 minutes (50kW DC rapid), or just over 10 hours using a residential AC wall box (7kW).

Jaguar's first full EV is available to order now, priced from £58,995 (including government incentives).
