Aspiring athletes from the automotive sector are being encouraged to work up a sweat to support Ben by joining the virtual Benathlon Challenge.
The industry charity is inviting the automotive community to exercise in their own way to complete the challenge, which will see teams of up to four people cover a total of 1,283 miles between March 10 and 24.
Participants can choose where and how they complete the challenge, for example, by walking, cycling, running, swimming, horse riding or skipping – or a mixture of ways to cover the miles.
Keeping with the keep-fit theme, Ben also has limited spaces available for automotive runners who want to take part in the London Marathon 2023 on April 23.
Matt Wigginton, director of partnerships, engagement, and income at Ben, said: “We are very excited to be launching our new virtual challenge event series, Benathlon.
“In the current economic climate, Ben needs the automotive industry’s backing now more than ever so that we can continue to support those who are struggling or in crisis.
“Many people are looking to improve their fitness and achieve something great at this time of year so now is the perfect time to challenge yourself, challenge your colleagues and support our automotive industry family.
“We hope you’ll be part of something incredible by getting involved in Benathlon. Thank you for your support - we can’t wait to see how you choose to complete the challenge.”
It’s free to take part in Benathlon but the minimum fundraising requirement is £75 per person.
Those taking part will track their progress online and be able to see their location on the virtual 1,283-mile route which starts and finishes at Ben’s Headquarters near Ascot and visits some of the UK’s race circuits.
Virtual medals and titles will be awarded for various achievements.
Earlier this year, Ben launched a new text service to ensure people in a crisis can access free and confidential help.
The 2022 Ben Ball raised over £120,000 in funds to help support members of the automotive industry, exceeding 2021's fund-raising total.
Anyone wanting to support Ben’s services through participation in the London Marathon needs to raise £2,000 for for the charity and pay the £60 application fee.
