EMaC and Cap HPI have partnered together to help dealers identify mileage discrepancies as part of vehicle provenance checks.
EMaC mileage data points will be used to assist in the validation of vehicle mileages by comparing data held within the cap hpi database from various industry sources against the mileage presented by a consumer, dealer or other interested party.
Liam Finney, commercial director at EMaC, said: "Our new data partnership will help check vehicles with mileage issues with greater accuracy and speed.
"Ultimately, this will allow dealers to buy and sell vehicles more safely and boost profitability."
The National Mileage Register (NMR) investigation process was recently relaunched to provide faster service to dealers.
When an HPI Check has identified a potential vehicle mileage issue, the service provides a detailed investigation.
An NMR investigation uses data from over 20 industry sources to confirm a vehicle's mileage history.
Developed in partnership with Trading Standards, the new NMR investigation service compares a vehicle’s current mileage reading against the National Mileage Register database.
Based on the data held for that vehicle, it verifies that the recorded mileage reflects the true distance travelled.
Instant certificates are issued for cases without discrepancies, while flagged issues trigger immediate alerts and an investigation by an expanded team of 15 operatives.
James McCarthy, sales manager, key accounts, at Cap HPI, said: "Our new data partnership with EMaC is the latest investment in our data platform to ensure it provides an accurate and timely picture of a vehicle's mileage and history."
