Harwoods Group’s McLaren New Forest will represent the British supercar brand’s UK retail network at the McLaren Global Retailer of the Year 2022 awards.
The business, opened when the AM100 car retail group joined the McLaren franchise in 2019, emerged as the brand’s top UK’s retail location last year and will now form one of 11 sites from across the globe to contest the prestigious accolade.
The overall winner of the McLaren Global Retailer of the Year 2022 will be announced in April and will see their name engraved on the Retailer of the Year trophy which will go on display alongside racing trophies displayed in the McLaren Technology Centre trophy cabinet.
Commenting on the Harwoods site’s top UK ranking in 2022, McLaren Automotive’s chief sales and marketing officer George Biggs said: “Many congratulations to McLaren New Forest on a thoroughly deserved success.
“The McLaren Retailer of the Year accolades are what define our top retailers – serving McLaren supercars, and those who drive them, in the very best way.
“For their passion and commitment through 2022, I am very pleased to welcome McLaren New Forest to the elite Premier Club of our top retailers.”
Craig Chapman, retailer principal at McLaren New Forest, said: “We are honoured and thrilled to have such recognition of our achievements in 2022 from McLaren. This award will mean a great deal to the whole team here who have worked tirelessly to ensure that we represent the best of McLaren Automotive and deliver the best for our customers.”
McLaren’s global retail network of over 101 retailers in 41 territories were entered into this year’s Global Retailer awards.
It is the seventh year of the awards which celebrates exceptional performance in all aspects of McLaren supercar and hypercar sales, service and customer satisfaction.
Previous winners have included McLaren Beverly Hills, McLaren Toronto, Park's Motor Group's McLaren Glasgow site and McLaren Dallas.
Through its top-placed finish the New Forest retail site, located at Lyndhurst, Bramshaw, joins the McLaren’s Premier Club.
Earlier this month AM published an exclusive interview with Harwoods chief transformation officer Archie Harwood and group solutions director Ben Green about a sweeping technological transformation of the business.
Harwoods has teamed-up with global digital agency DEPT to create a new omnichannel retail journey underpinned by a Salesforce CMS platform and is now starting to realise the benefits of the change which took a step forward with the launch of a new group website in September last year.
AM’s interview came just weeks after the business appointed former Volvo Car UK managing director Jon Wakefield as its new chief executive.
Praising Harwoods’ New Forest dealership for its successes this week, McLaren Automotive UK market director Nick Crossley said: “2022 was an important year for McLaren Automotive in the UK region. Just like McLaren, New Forest prioritise delivering a laser focus on high performance and customer satisfaction which are integral to our brand. I am very proud of what McLaren New Forest have achieved in representing McLaren in our region so successfully.”
