Dicksons of Inverness have extended MG Motor UK’s reach into the Highlands with the opening of a new dealership in its home city.
Michael Reardon, brand manager at the Scottish Nissan, Kia and Suzuki franchisee, said that the business “couldn’t be happier or more excited” to start selling the fast-growing brand’s range of models – especially its line-up of affordable electric vehicles (EV).
MG is the UK’s fast-growing new car brand, having generated a 65.6% rise in registrations (to 17,499) to the end of August, and the appointment of Dicksons means that it has now appointed 30 new retailers to its network in 2021.
Earlier this month AM reported that the brand had achieved a new sales record of 20,000 units year to date - half way through September - beating its full-year 2020 volumes by more than 1,500 units
Commenting on the opening of Dicksons’ new MG showroom, located in the Telford Retail Park on Carsegate Road, Inverness, Reardon said: “We couldn’t be happier or more excited about the opportunity to represent this iconic and well-known brand and to offer the impressive range of MG cars to new and existing customers in Inverness, the Highlands and beyond.
“We are really proud to be bringing the MG name and brand back to the region and offering customers more choice and value, especially when it comes to electric vehicles.
“It’s really positive news for Dicksons of Inverness and we have already had some excellent feedback from customers who have collected their new MG Cars from our Inverness showroom.”
MG Motor commercial director, Guy Pigounakis, said: “We’ve had a real focus on expanding our presence in Scotland in 2021 and the appointment of Dicksons of Inverness is a significant part of that.
“They’re a very well-regarded dealer group and will play a key role in expanding MG’s presence in the far north of the country. We’re delighted to welcome them into the MG family.”
MG, which was shortlisted in the Manufacturer of the Year category at this year’s AM Awards, currently offers six models in the UK including three plug-in cars.
It MG ZS EV, new MG5 EV and MG HS plug-in hybrid (PHEV) are all backed up by MG’s seven-year warranty.
