The John Clark Motor Group has added Volvo Cars UK to its portfolio of franchised partners with the official opening of its new Volvo Cars Edinburgh dealership.

Chris Clark, managing director of the Aberdeen-based group, said that he had been watching the progress of the Swedish brand – which won two awards at the AM Awards 2018 – for some time and expressed his excitement at the opening of the Glasgow Road showroom.

“I have been watching Volvo with great interest over recent years and believe this is a very exciting time to join the brand,” said Clark.

“They have some amazing products and some inspirational developments planned in the future, all of which put Volvo firmly on the short list as a credible option in growing car segments.”

For many years Edinburgh’s Volvo dealership has been based at the city’s Sighthill Industrial Estate, but the Glasgow Road dealership became the only manufacturer approved showroom providing sales and aftersales under one roof in the city following its official opening yesterday (February 28).

John Clark Motor Group divisional director, Paul Lanni, has been with the John Clark Motor Group for 12 years and is responsible for the new site.

He said: “I am really looking forward to working with Volvo and establishing a team that will offer both a helpful and friendly customer experience.

“With the new Compact SUV, XC40 that was recently launched and the V60 five-door, mid-size premium estate coming out in the near future, we have some great new models to celebrate.”

He added: “Volvo has always been synonymous with safety but today this brand offers so much more.

“Excellent driver performance, contemporary Swedish design and innovative technologies can be expected and appreciated by the Volvo customer of today.”

At last month’s AM Awards Volvo scooped the prestigious Manufacturer of the Year award and the New Car of the Year Award for its XC60 SUV, a car which has since been named UK Car of the Year.

The addition of Volvo to the John Clark Motor Group’s Edinburgh presence comes four months after the business opened a new 10-car Jaguar Land Rover dealership in the city.

The new facility near the city's Fort Kinnaird shopping destination complies with Jaguar Land Rover's Arch Concept corporate identity and replaces the group’s previous Pentland Jaguar showroom on Glasgow Road.

The former Pentland Land Rover retail facility at Newbridge has become a Jaguar approved service centre as part of the changes.
