Lookers is set to create 20 new jobs ahead of the opening of its new £4 million Volvo showroom in Stockport.
The top AM100 group will bolster the seven-strong team, which has been operating from a temporary premises at the site in St Mary’s Way, Stockport, ahead of the opening of the new facility in November.
Miles Alvis, franchise manager for Lookers Volvo, said: “The new team who have been operating out of our temporary facility are making great in-roads in re-establishing the Volvo name in Stockport and we have certainly seen a resurgence of interest in the brand.
“With the build progressing to plan and just a few months away before the finishing touches are made, we are now turning our attentions to our employment requirements.”
As Volvo reported its highest UK sales figures in 2016, which saw 46,696 cars sold, the build represents the brand’s return to South Manchester with the new dealership due to be completed by late November, coinciding with the arrival of Volvo’s new XC60.
Alvis added: “We envisage recruiting around 20 additional staff to undertake a wide range of positions which require both experienced staff and those new to the sector.
“We are looking for technicians, customer-facing staff and people to fill administrative and support roles as well as those who are looking for a career in sales.
“Lookers has been a franchised partner of Volvo since 2006 and we are very much enjoying bring the brand back to Stockport given the exciting changes and strong growth Volvo is currently experiencing.”
Lookers’ new Volvo showroom will comprise space for an eight-car display, with a separate vehicle handover area where customers will receive a full introduction to their vehicle and its innovative technology features.
A six-bay modern workshop will incorporate the latest equipment and diagnostic tools to meet the servicing and repair needs of Volvo owners in the region while outside there will be space for 50 Volvo Selekt approved used vehicles and customer parking.
