City Motors Volvo got on track with a sponsored driving event at Castle Combe race circuit to help the Wiltshire Air Ambulance service stay in the skies.

The dealership, based at Castle Court, Bristol, teamed up with the T5D5.org High Performance Volvo Club to host the event which succeeded in raising £2,750 for the cause with a raffle, passenger lap wrist band donations and voluntary contributions refreshments served on the day.

City Motors Volvo’s dealer principal, Mike Collett, said: “The Castle Combe track day was a huge success with club members, local customers and racing enthusiasts alike all enjoying a fabulous day out in aid of an incredible charity.

“The High Performance Volvo Club do a fantastic job each year raising money for various charities so we were proud to be able to support them as part of this event.” 

Volvo Car UK donated raffle prizes for the day, which attracted 160 participants, including a diving watch, track day places at various UK events to a £500 Volvo gift voucher.

The event once again played host to members of the fire service, with one of Chippenham Fire Station’s engines heading out to the track offering passenger rides. There was also a display from the Police road safety unit and a special appearance of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance helicopter.

Lunch was sponsored, for all participants and guests, by Shark Performance Ltd. and this included freshly made pizzas and refreshments provided by Bristol-based company, Pizza Monkey.

Kenresa Stratford, fundraising co-ordinator for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance said: ““The generosity of City Motors Volvo and the people who took part in the track day is overwhelming and we cannot thank them enough.

“We are a charity and need to raise £3.25million per year to keep us flying and saving lives and the kind donation of £2,750 will help us do this.”
