Vauxhall will end its Onstar connectivity service in all models in December 2020.
No new Vauxhalls will be fitted with the system after January 2019.
Any exisiting Onstar systems - which include apps, on-board WiFi, emergency call and concierge services - will cease to work from December 31, 2020.
Onstar belongs to General Motors and the decision to discontinue it in Vauxhall cars was taken by the brand’s new owners PSA Group.
A new system named Opel Connect is being developed, using PSA technology.
The new connectivity services will be introduced on Vauxhall passenger cars and light commercial vehicles beginning in 2019.
One of the first models to feature Opel Connect will be the next generation Corsa.
Besides an emergency call, the connectivity offer will include connected navigation, vehicle diagnostics, stolen vehicle assistance, remote vehicle access and fleet management capabilities, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
By 2024, Opel Connect will be available across the entire Vauxhall model range.
