Another 460,000 Volkswagen Group vehicles will receive fixes to their emissions software after German regulators approved plans for diesel engines smaller than 1.2-litres.
Over five million of the 8.5 million Volkswagen Group vehicles affected by the dieselgate emissions scandal are now eligible for fixes following the latest approval from Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), Reuters reported.
Volkswagen’s Polo and the Seat Ibiza are among the models which will benefit from the next wave of recalls.
A spokesman for Volkswagen UK told AM: "At this stage the UK fix relates to 18,018 Polo models with the EA189 1.2-litre engine.
"We will post a letter to the owners of these vehicles as soon as possible (a process involving careful checking of VINs and obtaining data from the DVLA). This should take place within the next 10 to 14 days."
In the United States the testing of hardware and software solutions which would see Volkswagen Group vehicles meet emissions regulations is still ongoing.
The manufacturer is keen to resolve the issue without resorting to the buy-back of 475,000 affected vehicles across the Altlantic.
