Halfords Autocentres has launched a 'privilege service plan' that enables its customers to budget for their annual service and MoT by paying a fixed monthly sum.
A two or three year term is available, to include a full or major service plus MoT for each year, with the monthly cost being determined by a combination of vehicle engine size and the length of plan chosen.
Those customers that use the plan will also receive a variety of other Halfords Autocentres benefits including 10% off any repairs for the duration of the term and discounts on products such as wheel alignment, battery replacement and air conditioning services.
Halfords Autocentres' spokesman Rory Carlin said: “The service plan is the latest in a suite of products that we have introduced which deliver value for money to our customers. The plan helps them budget for essential maintenance through the convenience of paying a small sum each month, whilst also fixing the cost.
“Customers are used to paying for other services – like TV licenses and mobile phone contracts - on a monthly basis, so we believe there is a latent demand for this type of plan, which has the added advantage of helping to avoid potential future problems that could arise from poor or infrequent vehicle servicing.”
The two year plan includes a full service and MoT in the first year and major service with MoT in the second.
The three year plan includes a full service and MoT in the first year, major service with MOT in year two and full service plus MoT in the third year.
Prices start from £13.99 per month for cars with engines under 1349cc under a 3 year plan, to £20.99 per month for cars with engines of 3.5-litre or greater over two years.

It was always going to happen. Main Dealers have had the edge for years with Fixed Price Servicing - Do customers really see Halfords as a Service Centre or just tyres and exhausts. The culture/marketing needs to change if this is going to be a win for Halfords.
