Volkswagen’s plans to build a 35,000 square foot showroom in Exeter have been given planning consent.

The new showroom will be built at Matford Green Business Park and will feature VW’s new retail concept.

The new Volkswagen dealership will replace the existing Inchcape facility at Trusham Road, which has operated from its current premises for 25 years.

The new dealership will sit opposite Jaguar and BMW showroom at the business park.

The dealership will be the first scheme to be built on the business park and comprises of a 22-car showroom and a 15-bay workshop, plus a large used car display area, with additional parking capacity provided on a roof deck.

Architects Stubbs Rich have designed the showroom to be as energy efficient as possible, using photovoltaic panels, a sustainable urban drainage system and natural lighting where possible.

Property consultants Colliers International and Alder King are marketing the remaining plots.
