An independent car dealer has been asked to take down the decorative flags hanging outside his dealership based on Willand Road, near Collumpton.

Reg Payne, owner of West Country Car Sales, presented councillors with an application to expand his car dealership and came out with a majority vote together with a vow to remove his bunting, following complaints from councillors.

Councillors were divided in opinion over the plan, with those opposing the expansion citing the appearance of the site as one of their biggest concerns.

The bunting is expected to be taken down soon.
