Vauxhall has added a new 198bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine to its Astra GTC range, priced from £20,995.

The engine was first seen in the Cascada convertible gives the  GTC a top speed of 143mph and 0-60mph time of 7.3 seconds, making it the fastest non-VXR model in the Astra range.

Peak power and torque are increased by up to 30% over the previous 1.6-litre turbo model, while efficiency has been improved by 13% to 51mpg and154g/km CO2.

Vauxhall is also introducing its Intellilink infotainment system to the Astra GTC as a £855 option.The 7-inch touch screen system features satellite navigation, voice control, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, picture viewer and Gracenote album art.

Astra GTCs with the new engine and Intellilink are available to order now with first deliveries expected in the spring.
