Allied Vehicles, the UK maker of taxis and wheelchair-accessible cars, expects to achieve another year of strong growth following a successful first three months at its new mobility retail operation.
The £74m turnover group specialises in wheelchair accessible versions of various vehicles such as the Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life, Peugeot Partner and Fiat Doblo.
Its Mobility Solutions store opened in May, retailing disability aids from scooters to adjustable beds and is proving so successful Allied Vehicles has already started planning to open another outlet.
The Glasgow store has affirmed directors' confidence in the chances of a retailer specialising in mobility products and bucking the trend for people to focus their spending online.
Allied Vehicles believed people would welcome a one-stop shop that offered them a chance to try out its specialist products and access services such as repairs.
