Startin Group has acquired Showells Hyundai in Stourbridge for an undisclosed sum.

It is the first Hyundai dealership for the Startin Group which currently operates Honda, Skoda, Fiat, Peugeot and Kia franchises across the Midlands.

Showells Hyundai is the business run by ex-Subaru and Isuzu UK managing director Lawrence Good after he left IM Group in 2009.

Good said: “We built a top performing Hyundai dealership, which had over achieved our volume objectives and was consistently in the top league for customer satisfaction.

“However, we were unable to fund the growth required to get the necessary scale and I am confident that with the Startin Group the business is in safe hands, they will build on the strong foundations we have created and expand the representation based on the enormous potential of the Hyundai brand.”

Mark Geobey, Startins group financial director, said the business has been watching the Hyundai franchise for some time and wanted to take on the brand after following its progress with market share year-on-year.

ASE’s Dealermatch service, David Kendrick head of corporate finance brokered the deal between Showells and Startin.
