Hendy Group is relocating its Hyundai franchise in Salisbury into its former Land Rover location in the city.

While Hendy continues to represent Land Rover in Christchurch and Southampton, it has now discontinued all sales of new and used vehicles for the franchise at the Salisbury showroom “due to wider changes in the industry”.

The former Land Rover site will be fully refurbished and refitted to be the new home for Hendy’s retail and aftersales customers for Hyundai in the city.

The location will continue to be an authorised repairer for Jaguar and Land Rover.

The dealer group told AM the Hyundai franchise in Salisbury had outgrown its current location in the city and needed more space in response to “strong and sustained demand for the Hyundai brand’s expanding range of products in the area”.

Further details of the new Hyundai facility will be announced soon, ahead of an official opening in early summer.

Hendy has been making big moves in the industry after appointing former Lookers chief operator officer Duncan McPhee to lead a strategic review of the business to prepare it for its next phase of growth.

Former Marshall chief executive Daksh Gupta has also joined recently as a non-executive chairman to help "unlock the significant opportunities that exist for the group".
