MG will reveal a new compact SUV concept at the Shanghai Motor Show on April 21.

The MG CS concept is the latest result of a “massive investment” in the brand by MG’s owner, SAIC and previews what could be MG's first production urban SUV.

The new design points to a new MG design style with a “shard” style light cluster and the brand believes this new model would help expand its global reach.

MG registered 782 units in 2012, a 117% increase over 2011 from a small starting base, according to figures from the SMMT. However, growth has stalled so far this year with the brand only registering 81 units over Q1, an 81% decrease over Q1 2011.
