Hyundai has revealed a rear-wheel drive luxury sports coupe concept at the Seoul Motor Show which hints a future production model.
Suk-Geun Oh, head of Hyundai’s Design Center in Namyang, Korea, said: “HND-9 will give customers a glimpse of Hyundai’s future luxury sports coupe models.
“Representing an evolution of Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design philosophy, the rear-wheel drive sports coupe concept balances high performance with a sophisticated image.”
The concept is fitted with butterfly doors and a 368bhp 3.3-litre turbo GDi engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.
The HND-9 is part of Hyundai’s special design projects which looks to strengthen the brand’s new focus for a “modern premium” image.
This new coupe concept also follows on from sister-company Kia’s new coupe concepts, displaying how the Korean manufacturers are looking to move into niche segments.
