Merecdes-Benz is looking to launch a rival to the Mini Countryman which is being internally referred to as the X-Class.
According to AM's sister title CAR, the new crossover will be developed with Renault-Nissan for a 2018 launch which could link with the second generation Captur (the first generation pictured here was recently unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show).
Two X-Class models are planned, a small crossover and a B-Class MPV.
Expanding the Mercedes range is key for the German brand if it wants to overtake Audi and BMW to become the top selling premium brand in the UK.
