Representatives from two major Chinese colleges have visited the Institute of the Motor Industry and IMI Awards as part of a 12-day ‘Train the Master Trainer’ programme.

The venture was jointly organised with EMTEC Colleges (ECL), part of Central College Nottingham, and its partners in China, the Chengdu Industrial Vocational and Technical College (CIVTC) and Shanghai Communications Polytechnic (SCP).

Dr Shaoyi Zhang, director of business development of ECL, commented: “This will help significantly in enhancing the UK’s reputation as a source of expertise and a partner for skills development.

“In turn, it will help China to improve its workforce competency in order to further secure the nation’s world leader status in automotive production and sales.”

Chief verifier at IMI Awards, Steve Longworth, added: “It was delightful to receive the Chinese delegation.

“Their visit to Fanshaws will undoubtedly reinforce the historic Sino-UK vocational education partnership between IMI Awards, EMTEC Colleges and our approved assessment centres in China.”
