Mercedes-Benz has sold 100,000 new cars within a year for the first time in its history in the UK.

The 100,000th car was delivered at Sytner’s Mercedes-Benz of Bristol dealership.

Marcus Breitschwerdt, president and CEO Mercedes-Benz UK, said: “It is the first time in our UK history that we have broken into six figures – and there is still a full month of registrations to go before the year-end results.

“This is an unprecedented achievement by everyone who works in our passenger car division here at head office and across the network.”

The new A-Class has helped boost sales in Mercedes’ bid to become the top premium brand in the UK. Year-to date registration up to September show Audi as the currently leader between the three German premium brands, with BMW in second place.

The official registration figures for October will be revealed by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders on December 5.
