HPI has launched a new used car inspection service which lets customers use an independent qualified engineer to determine whether a car could be unsafe or in need of repairs.

Check will be priced from £99 for insurance group 1 cars and the price goes up to £442 for a group 50 car. HPI has also created other optional add ons for customers to upgrade their inspection package, including a road test for £75, vehicle value check for £25 and a mileage document check for £25.

Phil Peace, commercial operations director for HPI, said: “The important areas such as the engine, gearbox, suspension and steering are all examined, thoroughly, including the expensive stuff like electrics, trims and mechanicals.

“What’s more, a vehicle may have been in an accident, but not written off, so the damage won’t be recorded, but with our inspection services, the body-shell, chassis and body panels are examined for signs of historic damage.”

Peace believes the new service will help customers reject faulty cars, have dealers fix any faults or negotiate a discount off the purchase price.
