A former Ford dealer "rained blows" on a pensioner during a road rage incident, a court has heard.
David Gill of Old Port, Cardiff, has been jailed for 12 weeks by Swansea Magistrates Court after it heard he pinned Michael Burns to his car bonnet and punched him multiple times, leaving him with injuries to his eye, cheekbone and lip.
Gill, who had denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm, is set to appeal his conviction, however magistrates refused his application for bail.
The court heard Gill, who had run a successful business including up to six petrol stations and a Ford franchise and still operated a car showroom in Maesteg, handed himself in to police shortly after the incident.
He claimed he had bit Burns in self-defence, and described it as one of the worst days of his life.
Gill told the court if he was jailed his remaining business, a petrol station and car showroom in Maesteg would be directly affected. He said his 30 employees would likely lose their jobs.
