Dealers will soon be able to bid on used cars at Manheim auctions through their smart phone following the launch of a new mobile phone website from the company.

At the moment, users can view and search the latest stock available with full vehicle details, condition information and images as well as access catalogues and their personalised search and stock information.

Buyers will also be able to view the sales calendar and specific auction centre information.

The ability to bid on stock will be available in the second update for the mobile website which will go live in the coming months.

The launch of the mobile website follows the introduction of the Manheim Remarketing website last year and is a major focus for future development as the company responds to the significant increase in the use of smart phones to access the internet.

Manheim Remarketing’s mobile website is optimised for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad but also works on Android & Blackberry (OS 6) platforms.

Jonathan Holland, director of online, UK and Europe at Manheim Group, said: “Working on-the-go is fast becoming a necessity for our customers and the rise of smart phone technology facilitates this.

"Buyers and vendors are rightly demanding more innovation from auction companies and that’s why we’ve created a mobile website to bring our vendors’ stock directly into our buyers’ hands whenever or wherever they may be."

Manheim said the mobile app was the first of several new digital initiatives it will launch this year.
