HR Owen has bought a loss-making Audi service centre in London from Lookers.

The £1.1m deal includes the business, staff and assets of the Audi aftersales franchise at Burr Road in Wandsworth, which was formerly part of Dutton Forshaw before its takeover by Lookers.

HR Owen said it will relocate its existing Bentley aftersales operation, currently also in Wandsworth, alongside the Audi aftersales franchise. It then expects the new business, which made a £400,000 pre-tax loss last year, to be profitable due to the synergies of serving both brands at the same site.

HR Owen chairman Jon Walden said: "This acquisition will enable us to complete the relocation of our Bentley aftersales franchise following the agreement to surrender the lease of the existing premises early as part of the American Embassy redevelopment.

"We are also delighted once again to represent Audi for aftersales in London."
