Marshall Motor Group, the family-owned dealer group, is the first motor dealer group to sign up to the Dealers Backing BEN appeal which was launched on June 9.
Marshall chief executive, Daksh Gupta said: “BEN is our charity; it is the only charity that exists to look after our employees and their dependents when they fall on hard times and need some help.
“Dealers Backing BEN is a fantastic initiative which will make it easier for dealer groups like us to donate to BEN and I hope the retail sector will all join in to increase the proportion of funds being donated to BEN. I am sure my colleagues in other groups will be quick to sign up as well.”
BEN exists to provide care, support and advice to those in the automotive industry who need help in times of hardship or distress.
BEN also has four residential centres around the country, offering a range of services from nursing to end of life care. In addition, BEN owns and runs a workplace day care centre, based in Coventry.
Gupta said: “Currently less than 20% of BEN’s annual income comes from the retail sector, yet over half a million people related to the retail sector could qualify for their help.
“This scheme will help BEN secure some substantial regular income which will enable them to provide care for our employees and families when they need help.
“For dealers, the scheme allows the cost to be spread over many transactions each month rather than on one large amount every so often. It is also tax and VAT efficient.
"This was an easy decision for us to make and I would encourage the heads of all the AM100 and Motor Trader 200 dealer groups to get behind this campaign for BEN. It is our responsibility and duty to help our charity.”
