Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and PSA Peugeot Citroen have signed a cooperative agreement to develop versions of the Japanese brand's electronic iMiev across both companies.
The manufacturing agreement will see Peugeot and Citroen versions of the iMiev sold throughout Europe towards the end of 2010 with production starting in October next year.
MMC first launched the electronic vehicle iMiev in Japan in June, and will begin global sales of the right-hand drive vehicle this year. MMC is also planning to launch the iMiev in left-hand drive markets in 2010.
The iMiev vehicles will add to Peugeot and Citroen’s range of low emission vehicles which include the Peugeot 3008 diesel Hybrid4, which will be launched in 2011 and the Citroen DS5 Hybrid4 and plug-in Hybrid4 diesel which will go on sale in 2012.
