Audi has developed a new 1.6-litre TDI diesel engine with lower emissions for its A3 range. 
The new engine features start-stop, brake energy recuperation systems and is linked to a five-speed transmission only.
Audi says the new engine will do 68.9mpg and has an output of 114g/km of carbon dioxide.
The new 1.6-litre TDI engine joins A3, A3 Sportback and A3 Cabriolet ranges priced at £17,485, £18,025 and £20,645 respectively.
