Chris Hill, the former managing director of motor insurer Highway, is expected to return with a new launch motor insurance business this autumn.

Hill stood down from Highway last November following its acquisition by Liverpool Victoria.

His new venture is being backed by David Saville and Thomas Duggan, who sold their A-Plan business to a private equity-backed £150m management buyout in April 2008.

Hill has already recruited former general manager of product and pricing at Guardian Holdings, Claire Hazlehurst, and former Kwik Fit Insurance business development director Bert Main.
