Owners of old cars wishing to take part in the scrappage scheme could hit problems if the vehicle is registered to an old address.

To qualify, drivers are expected to register the old and new car at the same address.

According to one study carried out by police last year, around three per cent of cars on the road are registered to the wrong address, reported Daily Telegraph.

This is only one of many problems associated with the rushed-through scrappage scheme which officially started today.
