Audi has introduced start-stop technology in its A3 automatic models.

The carmaker said it is the first compact hatchback in the premium sector to offer automatic transmission with a start-stop function.

The technology was previously used for four-cylinder manual gearbox models, but will now be available with Audi’s S tronic automatic transmission.

The A3 1.4 TFSI and 1.6 TDI models with S tronic twin-clutch automatic transmission are first to get start-stop technology.
Priced from £18,300 and £18,905, the models are available to order now for first deliveries in December.

The models also have recuperation technology, which can help reduce fuel usage by up to 3% said Audi.
