The former Fiat and Citroën dealership in Hertford has been demolished for redevelopment.

The dealership was part of DBS Desira, owned by Sam Desira since 1996.

Records at Companies House show that DBS Desira, which went into administration in January with the loss of 45 jobs, had last made a profit in 2003.

Although boosted by the sale of its second dealership in Bury St Edmunds in 2006, Sam Desira funded trading losses of around £50,000 per month in 2007 until putting DBS Desira into administration, according to the report of administrator Steven Law of Ensors.

The business was not connected to the larger Desira Group, a company headquartered in Diss and owned by Sam’s brother, John Desira.

A third brother, Joe Desira, was a director of DBS Desira until late 2006, when he resigned to join Desira Group.
